PBA: Manny Pacquiao May Not be Able To Join UNTV Cup
Manila, Philippines - Manny Pacquiao, Mahindra's playing coach and Senator was reminded by the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) that he is barred from playing in tournaments that are outside the PBA since he is covered by the Uniform Players Contract (UPC).
Manny, whos managing to do his duties as a senator, a boxer and basketball playing coach still has a UPC to fulfill, clarified by PBA's media bureau chief Willie Marcial.
Pacquiao was supposed to join the Senate Defenders for the UNTV Cup, teaming up with fellow senators Joel Villanueva and Sonny Angara.
According to Marcial, "He has an existing UPC with the PBA, so I don’t see him being allowed to play in other leagues,"
He also pointed out that, “Kung exhibition game lang yan puwede especially kung may basbas ng team, [If it's just an exhibition game, it's okay, especially if the team approves.]”
"Pero kung tournament, malabo yan.[But if it's a tournament, that's not possible]", he said.
